TouchScreen Ebook Reader

Apple has finally launched their new hand held e-book reader, called the Apple I-pad Tablet. This new Touch Screen E-Book Reader will bring books, movies, music, and web browsing all together in one small easy to carry device. This all–in-one device will be going head to head with the Amazon Kindle, another type of  portable touch screen electronic book reader. Although the Kindle is a smaller device, I have heard that the smaller electronic-ink display offers a more sunlight friendly reading experience. The Apple I-Pad Touchscreen ebook reader comes with an LCD (liquid crystal display) screen, which has been said to be harder to view on bright sunny days.

The fact that the Apple I-Pad tablet has a back Lit LCD display, may cause the battery to lose power more rapidly than the smaller electronic ink type display that comes with the Kindle. As it stands now the I Pad from Apple boasts a whopping 10 hours of battery life, where as the Kindle doesn’t have to be charged for almost a week if you turn off the wireless. The Kindle’s electronic ink display only consumes power when you turn the page. Now, I don’t know if this is true or not, but I have heard that spending a few hours reading a hand held LCD screen can be quite a strain on the eyes. I have to wear glasses that are pretty powerful, so reading anything for a long period of time puts a pretty good strain on my eyes. That being said, I had to throw that in there because it came up while I was doing the research for this site, and I want to give as much information as I can, in the time that I have to put this together.

The area where the Apple tablet really shines, is that it has the ability to offer a color display, and also has the ability to embed audio and video files in the books.

Now lets talk about the Amazon Kindle for just a little bit. The Kindle dx from Amazon, also has a 9.7 inch screen (diagonal) that boasts 16 different shades of grey so you get crisp clear text and really sharp images. The thickness of the Kindle is just over 1/3rd of an inch, which is as thin as most magazines off the rack. You can get books delivered wirelessly in less than sixty seconds
With no computer required, and no searching for wi-fi hotspots. The 3g wireless feature lets you download books right from your Kindle DX, with no monthly fees, and no annual contracts, and you also enjoy 3G wireless coverage at home or abroad in over 100 countries.

The Kindle also has a built in PDF reader so you can read, carry, and view all of your personal or professional documents when you need to.
When you don’t feel like reading the Kindle can read out loud too you, as long as the feature has been made available by the books rights holder.
