TouchScreen Ebook Reader
Apple has finally launched their new hand held e-book reader, called the Apple I-pad Tablet. This new Touch Screen E-Book Reader will bring books, movies, music, and web browsing all together in one small easy to carry device. This all–in-one device will be going head to head with the Amazon Kindle, another type of portable touch screen electronic book reader. Although the Kindle is a smaller device, I have heard that the smaller electronic-ink display offers a more sunlight friendly reading experience. The Apple I-Pad Touchscreen ebook reader comes with an LCD (liquid crystal display) screen, which has been said to be harder to view on bright sunny days.

The fact that the Apple I-Pad tablet has a back Lit LCD display, may cause the battery to lose power more rapidly than the smaller electronic ink type display that comes with the Kindle. As it stands now the I Pad from Apple boasts a whopping 10 hours of battery life, where as the Kindle doesn’t have to be charged for almost a week if you turn off the wireless. The Kindle’s electronic ink display only consumes power when you turn the page. Now, I don’t know if this is true or not, but I have heard that spending a few hours reading a hand held LCD screen can be quite a strain on the eyes. I have to wear glasses that are pretty powerful, so reading anything for a long period of time puts a pretty good strain on my eyes. That being said, I had to throw that in there because it came up while I was doing the research for this site, and I want to give as much information as I can, in the time that I have to put this together.
The area where the Apple tablet really shines, is that it has the ability to offer a color display, and also has the ability to embed audio and video files in the books.
Now lets talk about the Amazon Kindle for just a little bit. The Kindle dx from Amazon, also has a 9.7 inch screen (diagonal) that boasts 16 different shades of grey so you get crisp clear text and really sharp images. The thickness of the Kindle is just over 1/3rd of an inch, which is as thin as most magazines off the rack. You can get books delivered wirelessly in less than sixty seconds
With no computer required, and no searching for wi-fi hotspots. The 3g wireless feature lets you download books right from your Kindle DX, with no monthly fees, and no annual contracts, and you also enjoy 3G wireless coverage at home or abroad in over 100 countries.
The Kindle also has a built in PDF reader so you can read, carry, and view all of your personal or professional documents when you need to.
When you don’t feel like reading the Kindle can read out loud too you, as long as the feature has been made available by the books rights holder.

Hi Robert,
I have had the Kindle 2 for a little over a year now and I Love It. I had been concerned about how easy it is on the eyes and found that the e-ink is really good and not much different from reading a paperback. The DX should be perfect for things like textbooks. I have been able to clean off my bookshelf a little and purchase the digital versions of books I like. There are lots of books that are either free or very low cost.
I’m interested in buying the iPad and HP Slate but what do you think is better?
Thanks for this site. We all love to save a dollar and your advice helps
Only 32% stated they have been intending to purchase an apple ipad. The number is amazing given not just the hype, however the immediate reputation Apple’s items frequently enjoy.
I have had my Kindle for over a year now. I love it. For me, easy on the eyes. I love the free download on books, and no computer necessary. It does as it says, downloads in less than 60 seconds from just about anywhere. I can go almost 2 weeks without charging my kindle and I read every day. I would 100% recommend this product.
I wanted to buy the ipad but wasn’t sure how great it was. I know it was sold out really fast and that you had to be on a waiting list.
Personally I love my Kindle, I was skeptical how much I would like it prior to purchase but the Kindle is as easy on the easy as regular print, with added features such as dictionary support (allowing your to define any word while reading) and the ability to download any new book wirelessly anywhere anytime is great. Although I did finish a book on a plane the other day and was a little miffed I couldn’t pick up the next in the series wirelessly (How spoiled am I) Anyways I think the second generation was great, I wouldn’t like it to be any larger and for $189 it beats iPad and Nook, just my thoughts if you want to know more check it out here http://amzn.to/9qQGee
I don’t think I would like the DX a bigger screen is nice but part of the reason I love my Kindle is its portability. Check out the other reasons to get a Kindle here http://amzn.to/9qQGee
In all, myPadmedia is an excellent source of content for iPad owners. The wide range of available ebooks includes incredible titles, and there is no limit to what you can select. The fact that the downloads include comics, magazines, and newspapers makes the site even more useful. For those who want to take full advantage of what the iPad has to offer, this site provides an excellent portal. Its ease of use and the high level of support make it a great choice relative to the competition.————http://www.freeipaddownload.net
None could vie Apple I-pad tablet in my view as it makes my reading so simple without any eye strains literally. Moreover, I could enjoy music, watch videos and surf internet in an effortless manner with this touch screen device. Anyways, thanks for your reviews about Kindle dx too!
I’ve been waiting to get one of these! Its so cool with the touchscreen.
Yesterday, while I was at work, my sister stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a 40 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now broken and she has 83 views. I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
